Baldi is a beautiful room that knows exactly what it’s doing, attached to a kitchen that mostly doesn’t.

Overview / First Impressions

Baldi is the Tuscan steakhouse tucked inside the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, and the room does a lot of the work before a single course shows up. Round light fixtures hang low over the dining floor, olive branches frame the space, and the tables sit close enough together that people-watching becomes part of the meal whether you planned on it or not. It’s a genuinely beautiful restaurant, the kind of space that makes you want to like everything that comes out of the kitchen.

What We Ordered

The Etruscan Salad

A chopped salad built around the restaurant’s Etruscan namesake, with farro, cannellini beans, apple, cucumber, tomato and shaved cheese stacked up on the plate. It looked like a lot more than it tasted like. Just okay.

Prosciutto, Melon, and Fig Salad

Sliced prosciutto with melon, watermelon, feta and figs. This was the best thing we ordered all night, simple produce-forward plating that let the prosciutto and fruit actually taste like something.

Sauro’s Wife’s Mezze Maniche

Tube pasta in a beef ragΓΉ bolognese. Decent, unremarkable bolognese, the kind you’d be happy with at a neighborhood Italian spot but expect more from at these prices.

Sweet Corn Tortellini

The best pasta of the night. Tortellini in a light butter sauce, sweet from the corn filling without tipping into dessert territory. If we went back, this is what we’d order again.

Fritto Misto

Fried calamari and seafood with a lemon wedge. Fine, standard fritto misto, nothing to complain about and nothing to remember either.

Ribeye

Baldi cooks its steaks over an olive-wood fired grill, which sounds like it should produce something special. Ours came out average, a steak that would be perfectly fine anywhere and doesn’t distinguish itself as a steakhouse’s centerpiece dish.

Cocktails

The cocktail menu is solid and the execution matched it. Nothing revelatory, but well made and a genuine bright spot alongside the food.

Dessert arrived as Edo’s apple pie Γ  la mode, the restaurant’s stated signature, plated with a scoop of gelato tableside. We didn’t take detailed notes on this one, so we’re not scoring it beyond mentioning it showed up looking the part.

The Quirks

  • The dining room doubles as prime people-watching territory. Tables are close enough that you’ll clock at least one other party’s entire dinner.
  • Everything from the cocktail napkins to the dessert plates carries the “baldi” script branding.
  • The wine and by-the-glass list leans hard into Piedmont and Tuscany, worth a look even if you’re not ordering a full bottle.

The Verdict

Baldi gets the room right. It’s a genuinely beautiful restaurant with strong cocktails and a menu that reads like it should deliver. In practice, most of what we ordered landed at “fine,” with one great salad and one great pasta as the exceptions. At these prices, in a city with Donna’s, Bestia, and Mother Wolf all doing better Italian food, Baldi is easy to pass on.
